Today, a briefing was held at the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan on ensuring the safe operation of gas equipment in residential buildings in the Republic.
Damir Shaidullin, First Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan, took part in the briefing.
"Proper operation of gas equipment in apartment buildings is a matter of life and safety of our citizens. There are about 1,600 million gasified apartments in Tatarstan, in which 2,579 million units of gas equipment are installed, including 1,577 million gas stoves, 787 thousand heating boilers and 215 thousand running water heaters," D.Shaidullin reported.
Since September 1, 2023, the exclusive right to carry out maintenance and repair of domestic and residential gas equipment has been vested with a gas distribution organization in Tatarstan, Gazprom Transgaz Kazan LLC.
Unfortunately, there are many accidents in the republic related to the use of gas in everyday life. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, in 2025, 26 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning were registered in the republic, as well as 1 cotton of a gas-air mixture in an apartment. In less than a month of 2026, 8 cases of carbon monoxide poisoning have already occurred.
Statistics show that the majority of accidents related to household gas occur due to violations of the rules of operation of equipment: the use of faulty or non-certified equipment; unauthorized connection and reinstallation of gas appliances, violation of the rules of ventilation and refusal of regular maintenance.
As the first deputy head of the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Tatarstan noted, the risks in apartment buildings increase many times due to the high density of living. A malfunction in one apartment can threaten the safety of dozens and hundreds of people.
"Therefore, for the safe operation of indoor and indoor gas equipment in apartment buildings, repair of indoor gas supply networks, smoke extraction and ventilation systems is required," D.Shaidullin believes.
In 2025, the in-house engineering gas supply system was repaired in 90 residential buildings for a total of 35.46 million rubles in 18 municipalities and ventilation ducts and chimneys were repaired in 24 residential buildings for a total of 16.65 million rubles in 4 municipalities.
In 2026, it is planned to repair the in-house engineering gas supply system in 78 residential buildings for a total of 76.23 million rubles in 19 municipalities (and repair ventilation ducts and chimneys in 76 residential buildings for a total of 26.2 million rubles in 11 municipalities
In his speech, Damir Shaidullin called on local governments to include work on updating gas supply networks, smoke extraction and ventilation systems as a matter of priority in the capital repair program.
