Today, the Rais of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, opened the rugby center. It is located on Rauisa Gareeva Street in Kazan.
The ceremony was also attended by Tatarstan Prime Minister Alexei Pesoshin, Tatarstan Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Marat Aizatullin, Tatarstan Minister of Sports Vladimir Leonov and others.
Welcoming the participants, Rustam Minnikhanov stressed that today is a landmark event in the sports life of the republic.
"The path from the first training sessions at the Dynamo stadium in 1967 to the modern facility is a path of perseverance, tradition and victories. The new center creates fundamentally new conditions for the development of rugby in the republic. This is part of a big effort to develop the sports infrastructure of our capital and the whole of Tatarstan," he said.
The Rais of the Republic recalled that last week a figure skating center and a Football Development Center were opened in Kazan. All world-class facilities. An archery Center is scheduled to open. 4 football arenas (Leninogorsky, Alekseevsky, Drozhzhanovsky, Tyulyachinsky districts), 4 gyms (Arsky, Zelenodolsky, Zainsky, Agryzsky districts), 3 ice arenas (Aksubayevsky, Tukayevsky, Novosheshminsky districts) are also to be commissioned.
"We will continue to create conditions for sports to become more accessible to residents, children to have the opportunity to practice in modern facilities, and our athletes to prepare for competitions and achieve high results, to represent our republic at both Russian and international competitions. The rugby center will become an important part of this system. Rugby is a sport only for persistent and strong people," Rais of the Republic assured.
Then Rustam Minnikhanov examined the conditions created at the new facility. On the ground floor there are gyms, locker rooms, medical rooms, rest rooms for athletes. On the second floor there is a buffet and three aisles to the field. There are offices and 10 bedrooms on the third floor.
The total area of the building is over 5.4 thousand square meters.m. The field is covered with artificial turf with irrigation and heating. The stands for outdoor spectators are designed for 1,750 seats.
