The Water Sports Palace has been overhauled in Kazan for the BRICS Games

Major repairs of the Aquatics Palace were carried out in Kazan for the BRICS Games. The work began in early January and was completed in May, Pavel Kotov, project manager of ArkadaStroyUniversal LLC, told reporters.

"We have done a lot of work in this building. And a large amount of work was done in a short period of time – in five months," the speaker said.

In total, premises covering an area of more than 25 thousand square meters were renovated, including locker rooms, a jump corridor, stairwells, common areas, special facilities.

Video surveillance and underwater sound systems, lighting, video screens, water filters, ventilation, fire equipment, elevators, lifts, and spectator chairs were replaced in the building.

In addition, sports equipment was updated, including a springboard, diving boards, dividing tracks, anti-slip coating on the tower, a competition grid, a covering of the jumping area, a podium for synchronized swimming. Landscaping has also been carried out.

"Moreover, the building was operating continuously, residents visited it. We have held two Russian championships – in swimming and diving. Thanks to the well–coordinated work of all specialists, everything was passed on time," Kotov stressed.

He added that about 150 people were involved in the repair every day. The work was organized around the clock.

In preparation for the BRICS Games in Kazan, the Central Stadium, the Beach Sports Complex, the Badminton Center, and the Ak Bars Martial Arts Palace were also overhauled.

Major repairs with the purchase of equipment, furniture, inventory and landscaping were carried out at the Boxing and Table Tennis Center, the St. Petersburg Volleyball Center, the Gymnastics Center, the Federal Sports and Training Center for Rowing Sports, the Tulpar sports Complex, the Tennis Academy, the Petrel indoor swimming pool.

The BRICS Sports Games will be held from June 12 to 23. The program includes 27 sports disciplines. More than 4.7 thousand athletes from 93 countries will compete with each other, 387 sets of medals will be awarded.
