The number of mortgages issued in Tatarstan in January 2026 increased 2.2 times compared to the same month last year, and their volume in monetary terms increased 3.4 times, exceeding 16 billion rubles. This was announced to RBC Tatarstan by Ilshat Gimaev, Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the republic.
Mortgage issuance under equity participation agreements in the region increased 3.2 times in early 2026. Its volume increased 3.6 times, exceeding 10 billion rubles.
"This is a good signal that confidence in lending to the housing market has begun to return, and interest among the population has not disappeared, although January, February and March have always been not very successful months in this regard," Gimaev said.
According to him, the growth of mortgage lending, in particular, could be affected by the reduction in the key interest rate by the Bank of Russia. In the first half of February, it was reduced from 16% to 15.5%.
In 2025, the volume of mortgage loans in Tatarstan amounted to 157 billion rubles. The decrease compared to 2024 was 29%.
