The restoration of the building of the former Alexander Orphanage in Kazan has begun

The restoration of the former Alexander Orphanage on Butlerov Street has begun in Kazan.

The two-storey building was built in 1889 according to the design of architect Lev Khroshonovich, and is recognized as an object of cultural heritage of municipal significance.

As reported in the GISU RT, the builders carried out the dismantling work, reinforced the foundation and concreted the floor slabs. They continue to repair the facade with the restoration of architectural elements, interior decoration, renovation of engineering systems, and installation of a lift. The operational readiness of the facility is 30%.

The program also includes the delivery of new furniture and equipment, landscaping.

The orphanage existed until 1935. Then it was transferred to the House of Scientists, since 1993 the facility has been under the jurisdiction of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan. Since 2014, the Institute of Archeology has been located here. After the restoration, the State Fund for the Support of the Defenders of the Fatherland SVO participants will be located here.
