An innovative trenchless method was used in the reconstruction of the water pipeline on Shchapov Street in Kazan
The reconstruction of the water supply network along Shchapov Street in the section from Nekrasov Street to Tolstoy with a length of 1056 m is being completed in Kazan. The facility uses a modern technology of sanitation with a polymer flat-turn sleeve Improline CWL.
According to the head of the contractor Timur Gabdrakhmanov, the traditional method of replacing pipes requires digging deep trenches, which paralyzes traffic, spoils the road surface and causes inconvenience to residents. "Improline CWL trenchless repair technology is ideally suited for dense urban areas, historical centers and areas under busy roads where an open laying method is impossible or economically impractical," said Timur Gabdrakhmanov. - A flexible, high-strength sleeve made of polymer materials is stretched inside the old worn-out pipe. In fact, the old pipe is used as a protective shell, and a completely new sealed pipe is formed inside it."
Experts emphasize that the sleeve has exceptional tensile strength and is able to withstand high operating pressure in drinking and technical water supply networks. The method makes it possible to reduce the production time by almost 2 times. Its service life is at least 50 years.
According to Leonid Karaguzin, chief engineer of the Municipal Unitary Enterprise Vodokanal, the water supply was built in 1979, and decommissioned in the late 90s of the last century due to accidents. This year, its reconstruction is included in the republican program. "It is strategically important for Kazan - the entire central part of the city and partly the Sovetsky district will be powered from it," Leonid Karaguzin noted.
