Today at the National control centre in crisis situations of Russia held a nationwide teleconference, at which the Deputy head of the Ministry of construction of Russia Andrey Chibis has announced the introduction of separate waste collection in eight constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
In 2016 it is planned to adopt regional regulations on the introduction of separate collection in the Altai Republic, Lipetsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Belgorod, Volgograd, Tomsk, and Kirov oblasts and the Republic of Tatarstan. According to expert estimates, due to the introduction of separate waste collection, the proportion of MSW sent for recycling, for 10 years can grow to 25-30% of the total weight of municipal waste. This will help to significantly reduce the environmental burden on the natural resources of the country and return to the cycle of useful use of millions of tons of resources annually. "The most important element of the success of the implementation of a responsible attitude to waste is environmental education. In particular, we are considering the possibility of giving local authorities powers for the education and formation of ecological culture in the field of municipal solid waste management", - said Deputy Minister of construction and housing utilities of the Russian Federation, the Main state housing inspector Andrew Chibis. The meeting also discussed issues of regional preparedness for the implementation of territorial plans for waste management. According to 1 Aug no region has not yet approved the territorial scheme, only 10 schemes developed and are in the approval of the territorial bodies of Rosprirodnadzor.
"I want to draw special attention of colleagues on the need to accelerate work on the development of territorial schemes and waste management programmes. Until 26 September of the current year, new arrangements must be running, but the current degree of readiness of regions causes us serious concern," - said the Deputy Minister.
