Vladimir Medinsky and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov discuss the restoration of the Kazan Kremlin and the Admiralty

On June 13, during his working visit to Moscow, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky to discuss issues related to the restoration of cultural facilities, as well as the construction of new and repair of existing cultural centres in the republic. The event was also attended by minister of construction, architecture and housing of Tatarstan Irek Fayzullin.

"Currently, we are coordinating the restoration work at the facilities of the Kazan Kremlin to be conducted taking into account all norms and requirements,” Minnikhanov stressed. According to him, various government agencies that used to be located at the Kazan Kremlin moved to another buildings, and the space released will be used for museum and exhibition activities.

Minnikhanov noted that it is done to increase the tourist attractiveness of the Kazan Kremlin.

Moreover, Tatarstan President told the Minister about the project to improve the Admiralty building and its adjacent territory to open the Maritime Museum there. The republic looks forward to the federal co-financing of the project, he said. 

During the meeting, Minnikhanov also reported on the results of the programme aimed at the modernization and construction of cultural centres in the regions of the republic. According to him, the capital repair of 42 existing cultural centres and construction of 28 new ones are underway in Tatarstan.

In addition, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the formation of Tatarstan to be held in 2020 it is planned to make a presentation of a number of projects that will demonstrate the wealth and cultural opportunities of the region in Moscow.
