Construction work progress at the Universiade 2013 Venues was discussed today in the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan

The Minister of construction, architecture and housing of the Republic of Tatarstan I.E. Faizullin and First Deputy Minister of construction, architecture and housing of the Republic of Tatarstan F.M. Khanifov took part in the briefing related to the construction work progress at the Universiade 2013 Venues.

All municipal areas of the Republic participated in the briefing held as a videoconference.

During the briefing the Minister of construction, architecture and housing of the Republic of Tatarstan I.E. Faizullin announced that 65 Sports Venues whereof 30 Venues are objects of new construction and financed from the budget of the Russian Federation, are supposed to be used in order to stage the 27th World Summer Universiade 2013.

I.E. Faizullin reminded that 27 construction objects have already been completed, however, at some of the objects the work is still carried out in order to comply with remarks, to make adjustments according to international requirements as well as to upgrade the objects to ensure safety. Main activities are carried out at such Venues as Medical Center and Public Security Center as well as in International Information Center (within the territory of the Athletes’ Village situated in Prospect Pobedy street, Kazan).

The Minister announced that in 2012 the following Venues will be completed: Gymnastics Center situated in Syrtlanova street (to be completed in May), the Athletes’ Village Complex situated in Prospect Pobedy street, Aquatics Palace situated in Chistopolskaya street, Football Stadium for 45 000 spectators in Chistopolskaya street as well as hotels of Aquatics Palace.

First Deputy Minister of construction, architecture and housing of the Republic of Tatarstan F.M. Khanifov assured that regardless a large scope of work, the time of the commissioning of the key Venue of the Universiade 2013 Football Stadium for 45 000 spectators will not be postponed. According to him there appeared some difficulties in the course of the project implementation, in particular, during installation of the stadium roofing. Metal structures made of special steel were required to make the roofing lighter.
