The corner stone of a free hotel for parents of sick children was laid in Kazan

The construction of a free hotel for parents, whose children receive long-term treatment, started in Kazan. The project was started by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and president of “McDonald's” in Russia and Eastern Europe Khamzat Khasbulatov within the territory of the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital. Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan  I.E. Faizullin participated in the event.

The project of a free family hotel for parents whose children receive long-term treatment at the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health Care of the Republic of Tatarstan is implemented by a charity fund “Ronald McDonald’s House”. The main objective of the project is to create favorable conditions for parents within the territory of the hospital. The hotel will be located on a land plot of 2,000 square meters allocated for the construction within the territory of the hospital in close proximity to the main building. “Ronald McDonald’s House” will consist of 24 bedrooms, a living room, and a playroom for kids, a game room for teens /a computer room, a kitchen, a dining room and a laundry room, bathrooms, office premises as well as a reception area and a check-in desk. The entire first floor of the hotel (including 5 bedrooms) will be equipped for the care of children with disabilities. The project provides a children's playground. "Ronald McDonald’s House" will be able to receive more than 600 families annually. The hotel is to be commissioned on July 6th, 2013.

The construction of the hotel and its further maintenance and provision of rooms for parents will be funded by a charity fund “Ronald McDonald’s House”.

Speaking at the ceremony Rustam Minnikhanov thanked “McDonald’s” company for the decision to build a hotel in Kazan. “This hotel should have been here a long time ago, but we did not have time to do it or we just did not have enough money”, complained the President. “In fact, the children who are here do need their parents. So we are very thankful to “McDonald’s” for this project to be implemented in Kazan”.

The President also noted that while there are 315 such hotels in 31 countries all over the world, the hotel in Kazan will be the first to be built in Russia.

The President recalled that the country does a lot to modernize health care services both according to federal and republican programs. These are projects in Almetyevsk, Naberezhnye Chelny, redesign of the Republican Clinical Hospital and the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital. “And the presence of such a hotel is very required and in-demand”, said Rustam Minnikhanov.

He said that "McDonald’s" company is a longtime partner of Tatarstan and is actively involved in the life of the Republic.

President of “McDonald's” in Russia and Eastern Europe Khamzat Khasbulatov, in his turn, called the construction of the start project in Kazan to be a great honor for the company. “We have been thinking when and where to implement this project, because children’s life has always been a priority for us.        I think that such projects should be implemented exactly where they will bring the greatest benefit”, said Khamzat Khasbulatov. “I do not know how much it will cost for us, but I do know that we will build this hotel and commission it before the opening of the Universiade”, he said.

 As a sign of the beginning of the construction the distinguished guests threw the veil off a toy “Ronald McDonald’s House”.
