Working movement of motor transport on the traffic interchange at the intersection of Prospekt Pobedy street and R.Zorge street started today. The movement was started by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov
This interchange is one of the largest and most important ones for the city; it is the only one on the main overpass of which there is a tram line. The interchange includes the main overpass in R.Zorge street, two turnaround overhead roads, a pedestrian overpass in front of house 75 in R.Zorge street and an underground pedestrian crossing with two approach ramps to enter metro station “Prospekt Pobedy” and two approach ramps to enter a tram stop.
The length of the main overpass consisting of three overhead roads is nearly 350 meters. Two-lane traffic in each direction is provided for vehicles on the side overhead roads, and there is a tram line between the roads. The length of a turnaround overhead road on the side of Safiullina street is 208 m and the length of the second overhead road on the side of Syrtlanova street is 281 m.
Department of capital construction and reconstruction of the Executive Committee of Kazan is a customer for a two-level interchange construction. The construction was carried out by general contractor “Stroikhimservis” LLC and subcontractor “Mostostroi No.12” LLC. The total cost of the interchange construction is about 2.7 billion rubles.
Speaking at the event the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the builders for a qualitative completion of the work within the contract period. “This interchange is decisive, we have been waiting for it a long time”, said the President. “Transport infrastructure is one of the main challenges for our capital. And we will continue to improve the road network of our capital, and this will provide convenience for the citizens”, added the President.
The honored guests turned over a “No entry” sign starting traffic movement on a new interchange. The first trams, buses and trolleybuses moved along the overpasses.
As Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin informed that a new interchange had been built during 14 months, the builders used 18.000 cubic meters of concrete, and more than 7000 tons of metal. Today, a working traffic movement started on the interchange, and the construction work is to be completed in November.
In addition to private vehicles, 15 bus, 3 trolleybus and 1 tram routes will move along the interchange “Prospekt Pobedy street – R.Zorge street”. For final commissioning it is necessary to complete the construction of an underground pedestrian passage under the interchange and a pedestrian overpass in front of house 75 being built in the complex of this transportation hub. The overpass is being painted and the adjacent territory is being improved. Prior to the completion of these works, which do not interfere with the traffic management, the interchange will be operated in a test mode.
