Minister I.E. Faizullin reports to deputies on the issue of the development of the historic center of Kazan
A joint offsite meeting of the Committee of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan on economy, investment and entrepreneurship and the Commission of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan on supervision of the implementation of the priority national project “Affordable and Comfortable Housing for Russian Citizens” was held today in Kazan City Hall. Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan I.E. Faizullin was a coreporter on the issue “Prospects for the development of the historic center of Kazan”.
Speaking about the results of the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan held a year ago, which addressed the issues of architectural concepts quality, the minister said that an unguided process of "fabric" building in the center of Kazan by increasing the number of stores and density had been cancelled.
The construction of more than a hundred objects in the historic center of the city was suspended by the decision of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan. A decision on the possibility of continuing the construction or amendments in the project documentation was made as a result of the inspection consideration of each object.
However, Minister I.E.Faizullin said that such a procedure for projects consideration could be thought to be a temporary one. Comprehensive development and formation of architectural ensembles are possible only on the basis of urban planning documentation i.e. site design, traffic and pedestrian traffic, integrated landscaping and others.
