Two of the nine cities of Tatarstan became winners of the VIII All-Russian competition of the best projects for creating a comfortable urban environment in small towns and historical settlements. The results of the event were summed up at the forum "Development of small towns and historical settlements" in Vladivostok.

In total, the republic will receive 164.4 million rubles of a federal grant for the implementation of new public spaces. The winners were Bavly and Kukmor.

The republic was represented at the competition by Aznakaevo, Bavly, Bugulma, Kukmor, Mendeleevsk, Menzelinsk, Nurlat, Tetyushi and, for the first time, the village of Sviyazhsk.

When preparing applications, architects do not just lay architectural solutions, but also predict financial and social effects after implementation. For example, how the project will activate local communities, open the territory to residents from a new side and create new urban initiatives.

During the preparation of applications, events are held in the participating territories that help to test the solutions already laid down, enter into a dialogue between the administration and communities and involve local businesses.

In the category "Small towns with a population of 20 thousand to 50 thousand people", the city of Bavly won.

In the category "Small towns with a population of up to 20 thousand people", Kukmor won.

In addition, a letter of thanks on behalf of the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Russian Federation Irek Fayzullin marked the application of the village of Sviyazhsk.
