The International Award in the field of urban innovation has been held since 2012 with the support of the World Organization of Cities and Local Authorities, the World Association of Large Cities «Metropolis» and the Guangzhou City Administration.

The competition is aimed at encouraging cities for their contribution to improving the social, economic and environmental situation, as well as for the exchange of experience in the field of urban innovation. The Award promotes the creation of inclusive, safe, sustainable cities and settlements, supports efforts to achieve sustainable development goals and create a new urban agenda.

The park «Maloe Chaikovo Lake» is located near the city hospital no. 7. Rehabilitation of hospital patients, psychoemotional unloading of doctors, as well as recreation and sports activities of residents of nearby houses are carried out on the territory of the park.

The landscaping project was developed under the supervision of the Institute of Urban Development of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Kazan City Hall. Rehabilitation specialists, environmentalists, entrepreneurs and residents of the city also worked in a team with architects. The work was carried out within the framework of the national project «Housing and urban Environment».

For the convenience of citizens, transit directions were organized during the construction of the park, which help people not to bypass the entire block along the perimeter, but to cross it along the park zone, reducing travel time.

Special attention during the development and implementation of the project was paid to the preservation of the lake ecosystem. During the landscaping, its bottom was cleaned, and aquatic plants were planted. They contribute to the self-purification of the lake.
