One of the main criteria for evaluating applicants for the National Smart City Award this year was the use of domestic digital solutions aimed at achieving technological sovereignty in the digital transformation of urban economy.

Konstantin Mikhailik, Deputy Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation, addressed the guests of the ceremony with a welcoming speech: "The Smart City project has made it possible to unite representatives of government, business, science, as well as caring citizens. The goal of the Smart City project is not only to digitally transform and automate processes, but also to comprehensively improve the efficiency of urban infrastructure and the quality of life of citizens of our country."

The departmental urban digitalization project "Smart City" is being implemented within the framework of the national project "Housing and Urban Environment" and the national program "Digital Economy". The growth of the Urban Digitalization Index – the IQ of cities – has already amounted to almost 40% compared to the base year 2018. For 2022, the average index value was 55 points (out of 120 possible).
