President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation O.G.Savelyev, member of the Board of the State Corporation “Rosatom”, First Deputy Director General for Operations Management A.M.Lokshin, Director General of CJSC “Holding Company “Kompozit” L.B.Melamed together with invited guests also visited the production site of LLC “Alabuga – Volokno” the construction of a plant for the production of carbon fiber with the capacity of 1,500 tons per year is being completed. This project was initiated by CJSC “Holding Company “Kompozit”, a Russian holding company engaged in the production of polymer composite materials based on carbon fiber.
The creation of a cluster for the production of composite materials and products in SEZ “Alabuga” was discussed at the meeting in the administrative and business center of SEZ “Alabuga”. This is especially important since Republic’s target program “Development of Housing Construction in the Republic of Tatarstan for 2011-2015” defined the production of the materials based on glass basalt carbon plastics (plastic fittings, composite panels, pipes, profiles of different sections) as a priority in the development of the construction sector. Taking into account the technical characteristics that allow composites to compete with traditional ones as well as a long-lasting upward trend in energy prices, and thus, in metal prices, we can talk about a long -term increase in the use of composite materials.
