On June 18, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a ceremony of laying the first stone in the foundation of a new plant OAO “Kazan Synthetic Rubber Plant – Silicone” to manufacture organic-silicon products.
Speaking at the ceremony, Denis Manturov said that there were no facilities for manufacturing organic-silicon products used, for example, in the production of sealants, elastomers, composites and other materials, which are subsequently applied in innovative civil and military products, in all former Soviet states so far. The most part of the raw materials was purchased abroad. Denis Manturov continued that the capacity of the Russian market makes about 50-60 thousand tonnes of silicone, with the rate of consumption growing annually. With the planned production capacity of 40,000 tonnes per year, which will be increased in the future, the plant aims to substitute import goods. The production facilities will feature modern equipment using new waste-free, energy efficient and environmental friendly production technologies.
It is expected that the construction will be completed the next year and the design capacity will be achieved in 2016.
By removing the cloth from the memorial sign, the honoured guests gave start to construction the future plant for manufacturing silicone monomers and products of their processing OAO “KZSK – Silicone”.
Then, the guests looked around production facilities of Kazan Synthetic Rubber Plant, where they were told about its design capacity and products. “This is a new life of the synthetic rubber plant. Unfortunately, after the break-up of the Soviet Union, the plant experienced a very hard time. Nevertheless, the production facilities were maintained and today for some products we are a unique enterprise not only in Russia but also worldwide. As for silicone, which is now in great demand on the Russian market, it is a good example of public-private partnership. This enterprise will feature a competitive and greatly demanded product, new jobs, and taxes to the budget. Furthermore, we can get many derivatives, that is, it will give the raw material base for small and medium-size businesses, which is also very important,” Rustam Minnikhanov told journalists.
Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, Chairman of State Corporation “Vnesheconombank” Vladimir Dmitriev, Board Chairman of “Kazan Synthetic Rubber Plant” Evgenia Dautova, representatives of ministries, departments, industrial enterprises as well as Tatarstan educational institutions attended the event.
