On December 9, during his working detour around the historical center of Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Gorky, Boratynsky, Ulyanov-Lenin memorial museums and Tolstoy mansion house. He was accompanied by Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov, Assistant to Tatarstan President Olesya Baltusova, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Utilities Services of the republic Irek Faizullin, Tatarstan Minister of Culture Airat Sibagatullin.
The Ushkova Mansion, where Leo Tolstoy lived in 1841-1845, was the first site visited within the trip. The mansion’s main building has practically been restored, as have been the extensions.
Tatarstan President noted the restored building’s great value, demanding that the concept of mansion’s future use be elaborated.
The officials then visited building No 18 on Karl Marx street, once owned by one of wealthiest members of Kazan’s gentry Banartsev. The building is being reconstructed by ASG company, whose board member Alexey Syomin demonstrated to the visitors the restored plush interiors of the rooms and halls.
At the Maxim Gorky literature museum, Tatarstan governor saw the results of a nearly completed overhaul and reconstruction. Tatarstan President demanded that the restoration and organisation of exhibition in the inspected museums be completed before 1 September 2015.
The concluding site within the trip was the Sara Sadykova public garden at the junction of Tukai and Akhtyamov streets, where Tatarstan president was presented a garden beautification project including a monument to Sara Sadykova to be installed.
