Rustam Minnikhanov meets DPRK Minister of Foreign Trade Mr. Lee Ren Nam

Opening the meeting, Minnikhanov thanked the DPRK Minister of Foreign Trade for his interest in the republic. According to Tatarstan President, today it is necessary to raise the cooperation between Tatarstan and North Korea to a new level. Tatarstan companies have a lot to offer to their partners from the DPRK, because Tatarstan is the export-oriented region, he continued, adding that KAMAZ trucks and Mi-8, Mi-17 helicopters produced in the republic are well-known in the world.
We can cooperate in various fields, including development and production of oil, petrochemicals, engineering, agriculture, medicine and others, Minnikhanov went on to say. Then, he briefly presented the economic potential of Tatarstan and said about the most promising investment projects that are being implemented in the republic (the Alabuga Special Economic Zone, Innopolis innovative city, engineering centers).
Tatarstan has a strong scientific and educational potential, he pointed out. The Federal University, one of the oldest universities in Russia, and two national research universities are located in Kazan and the North Korean students could study at our universities, Minnikhanov added.
In his turn Mr. Lee Ren Nam also noted the sphere of education and training as one of the promising areas for cooperation. He thanked for the warm welcome in Kazan, and expressed his hope for further cooperation.
The All-Russian voting for selecting priority improvement projects for 2027 is ongoing. As of May 4, 203,000 people in Tatarstan have made their choice.
