Rustam Minnekhanov inspected historical center of Kazan

Working visit to the historical part of the center of Kazan was made by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov on 17 April. The main purpose was to assess the condition of cultural heritage in this part of the city. Tatarstan President was accompanied by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Tatarstan President assistants Olesya Baltusova and Natalia Fishman, Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of Tatarstan Irek Faizullin, Tatarstan prosecutor Ildus Nafikov, representatives of other republican ministries and departments.
The first item on the program was the bypass of area behind the building of the Scientific library named after N.I. Lobachevsky. Representatives of the Kazan University, together with the assistant of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Natalia Fishman, reported on the elaboration of the territory of the park. This land is part of the historical ensemble of one of the oldest squares of the city - Leninsky garden. In December last year green spaces were cut down here, which caused a wide public resonance. Tatarstan President inspected the area and then instructed to prepare a concrete project of improvement of the area with the creation of a comfortable seating space. Rustam Minnikhanov also suggested considering the option of dismantling roads with asphalt.
The President of Tatarstan visited the object of cultural heritage of federal importance "Ushkova house", now here is the National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan. During the inspection Rustam Minnikhanov discussed with restorers further milestone in the building: to survey the unique interiors of the building for the development of the project of restoration of the interiors, as well as the continuation of the repair of facades and windows. In addition, the library management has informed the President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the lack of space to store books and extreme overload of the old building. Rustam Minnikhanov promised to assist in resolving this problem, including instruction of the Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing to calculate the possibility of landing the underground housing stacks next to the library.
At Kavi Nadzhmi Street Rustam Minnikhanov visited the building of the boarding school "Special Olympiad and research center "The Sun". Today 129 children study here, many of which win prizes at international competitions. Director of the institution Pavel Shmakov said that two years ago, thanks to the promotion of RT President, the building was repaired. But for the further successful functioning of the school it is necessary to increase the area, the construction of additional building for the dining room and a gym is needed. This will increase the number of students in half. Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed the achievements of the boarding school and instructed to take it on the control.
The next item was the object of cultural heritage of federal importance "Hotel building of Nobility Assembly" (Rakhmatullin street, 6/9). Here at different times Catherine II, Alexander Pushkin and Fyodor Chaliapin stayed. Tatarstan President discussed the future course of restoration work with the restorers. "This is a very beautiful building, it is necessary to save it," - Rustam Minnikhanov said. Then the participants went to the oldest building of civil architecture in Kazan - the home of industrialist Ivan Miklyaev. There emergency response work is carried out since 2015, about which the president was reported by contractors Ltd. "Restorer".
Then the delegation proceeded to the Peter and Paul Cathedral, which was also built by Ivan Miklyayev after a visit of Emperor Peter the Great in 1722 to Kazan. Near the cathedral Rustam Minnikhanov was met by Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan. Tatarstan President congratulated the Bishop on the 40th anniversary of priestly ordination and wished him good health and further success for the benefit of the service of the Orthodox Church. After that Rustam Minnikhanov and Metropolitan Feofan discussed issues of transfer of diocese premises of the former church of Cosmas and Damian to Tatarstan archdiocese in order to open a Sunday school there.
At Kremlevskaya street participants examined another historical monument “Apartment house - passage of merchant Chernoyarov". The owner of the building told about the work carried out within the framework of the restoration of the object. Rustam Minnikhanov instructed not to reduce the momentum and put the external and internal appearance of the house in order, agreeing restoration project with the Ministry of Culture.
