Head of the Ministry of the Russian Federation noted the experience of Tatarstan in the improvement of cities

Today in Moscow held a meeting of the Presidium of the Council under the Russian President for strategic development and priority projects. It was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov.

The current meeting was devoted to the implementation of the priority project "Formation of a comfortable urban environment", the press service of the President. The Prime Minister added that the decision to increase Federal funds on this project from 5 to 20 billion rubles. An additional 0.5 billion rubles will be spent for the improvement of parks and gardens. "However, we are not going from the Federal level to substitute the work of local authorities, regional authorities, he said. – It is the responsibility of the regions and municipalities. Our role is to encourage regions and municipalities to more actively deal with these issues, including relying on the opinion requests of local communities. It is important that the people themselves could influence the choice of variants of improvement, provide feedback, monitor the quality of work".

The importance of decision-making on the improvement of the urban environment together with the residents, said at a briefing after the meeting with the Minister of construction and housing and communal services of Russia Mikhail Men. In this regard, he noted the positive experience of Tatarstan. "Approaches to the project ("Formation of a comfortable urban environment" – approx. T-s) relied not so much on theory as on practice.
