Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, signed a decree approving the method for determining the quality index of the urban environment. This was announced today at 25th of March, by the head of the Ministry of Construction of Russia Vladimir Yakushev during the All-Russian selector meeting on the implementation of the national project "Housing and the urban environment." The technique is designed to determine the quality level of the urban environment of human settlements, by calculating and assigning them the quality index of cities. Evaluation of the quality of the urban environment will allow to determine the current state of the urban environment, including the identification of the advantages and disadvantages of cities, current problems. The systematic receipt of this information will also allow developing on its basis qualified solutions for the development of cities at the federal, regional and municipal levels, as well as assess the effectiveness of programs and projects already implemented in this area. The indicators of the urban environment index are divided into six areas: housing, public business infrastructure and adjacent spaces, social leisure infrastructure and adjacent spaces, green areas, embankments, street infrastructure and citywide space, as well as the factors that form the habitat - safety, comfort , environmental friendliness, identity and diversity, the modern environment and the effectiveness of government.
