Alexander Kuzmin was born in 1951 in Moscow. In 1974 he graduated from Moscow Architectural Institute and began his career at the Moscow General Planning Research and Project Institute, State Unitary Enterprise (Genplan Institute of Moscow), where he went from architect to the chief architect of the institute. In 1991 he was appointed deputy and then first deputy chairman of the Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning of the city of Moscow. From September 1996 to June 2012, he served as chairman of the Moscow Architecture Committee, chief architect of the city of Moscow. Alexander Viktorovich was the President of the Russian Academy of Architecture and Building Sciences, the general director of Joint Stock Company - Research Center of Construction, a full member of the Russian Academy of Arts, a professor and academician of the International Academy of Architecture, a national architect of the Russian Federation, honored architect of Russia, an honorary builder. He is a great man, has left a great professional legacy: leader, author and co-author of almost a hundred major urban planning and architectural projects, scientific works.
