Construction projects in the historic centre of Kazan discussed in the Government House

Yesterday evening a regular meeting on the implementation of new construction projects in the historic centre of Kazan was held by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. The meeting was attended by Procurator of the Republic of Tatarstan Kafil Amirov, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Yury Kamaltynov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan on Economic Affairs Airat Khairullin, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Olesya Baltusova, Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan Irek Faizullin and representatives of the expert architectural community.

12 projects of building construction in the historic center of Kazan were considered at the meeting. The expert board made some suggestions on the feasibility of the construction of each object in the proposed architectural design.

In general the participants of the meeting approved all 12 projects; there were some comments on the appearance and landscaping to be eliminated by the developers.

Assistant to the President of Republic of Tatarstan Olesya Baltusova drew the attention to the fact that trees are often cut down in the course of construction and are not restored after the construction. Rustam Minnikhanov supported this remark and asked to oblige developers include the appropriate landscaping by big trees. The President also proposed to plant trees on flat roofs of buildings in the city center.
