A temporary swimming pool will be built near the Aquatics Palace for the World Water Sports Championship to be held in Kazan in 2015, as reported by Director General of ANO “Executive Board Kazan 2013” Vladimir Leonov at the briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan. This building will house three thousand spectators and hold the water sports finals.

Vladimir Leonov said that the main cluster of the Championship will be located in the united territory of football stadium Kazan-Arena and the Aquatics Palace. The stadium will house 2 swimming pools. The main pool, surrounded by 10-11 thousand seats, will hold competitions in synchronized swimming and diving. The Aquatics Palace will held competitions in diving and water polo. Competitions in high-diving will be held at the embankment of Kazanka River near the Farmers’ Palace. The speaker also said that, perhaps, competitions in the open water swimming would be transferred from the rowing channel to the water area of Kazanka River.

“An extensive cultural program will be arranged during the Championship. Separately, we consider the organizations of the opening and closing ceremonies”, said Vladimir Leonov. According to him, they will be interesting shows, the scenarios of which will be kept confidential.

The hospitality village will be placed near stadium Kazan-Arena. “This is an analogue of the Cultural Park which was at the Universiade near the Farmers’ Palace”, said Vladimir Leonov.

He also said that for the effective international broadcasting the dates of the championship had been shifted: it will be held from July 24th, 2015 to August 9th, 2015. Then, the Masters’ tournament will be held and will bring together athlete veterans from around 200 countries.

“Right now we are negotiating with the International Swimming Federation in order to entirely use the Athletes’ Village”, added Vladimir Leonov. It will be used to accommodate the participants both of the world water sports championship and the Masters’ tournament.
