The President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited a number of sites in the historical center of the city of Yelabuga. He was accompanied by Olesya Baltusova, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Irada Ayupova, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan, Alexey Frolov, First Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan, and Sergey Ivanov, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan.

On the territory of the cultural heritage site of local significance "The building of the Bread Square of the XVIII-XIX centuries. (Lenin Square)" Rustam Minnikhanov was presented with information about reconstructed facilities and current projects. Today, the area of the territory of historical and cultural lands exceeds 490 hectares. There are 184 cultural heritage sites located here.

The Rais of Tatarstan noted that Yelabuga is one of the cultural centers of our republic. "Every year a lot of work is being done in the city to restore the historical appearance, systematic work has been established. The number of tourists to Yelabuga has increased significantly, it is very important to maintain this dynamic," he stressed.

Then Rustam Minnikhanov got acquainted with the improvement of the pedestrian street of Gassar. The last time the reconstruction was carried out here was more than 10 years ago. Now the builders have replaced the paving slabs, installed new stylized street lights, benches and flower stands. The Rais of Tatarstan strolled along the renovated street, visited the "Craft Shop", and also inspected the construction site of the Memorial Square for Home Front Workers.

Then Rustam Minnikhanov was presented with a project for the overhaul of the Memorial of Memory. The building was erected in 1995 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Great Victory in honor of the Elabuzhans who died in the Great Patriotic War. After the reconstruction, the memorial will be supplemented with the names of its heroes.

The landscaping of the Shishkin Ponds Park continues. In 2022, this project became the winner of the All-Russian competition for creating a comfortable urban environment in small towns and historical settlements. In 2023, the central descent to the territory of the ponds was completely renovated in the park, trees and shrubs were planted, piers and descents to the water were organized, a new playground, a pump track for fans of extreme sports appeared, lighting in a historical style was installed, coatings (paving stones, asphalt and wooden decking) were replaced. Rustam Minnikhanov was informed that in 2024 the improvement of the Shishkin Ponds continues within the framework of the federal project "Formation of a comfortable urban environment". This year, it is planned to install automatic irrigation systems, a tea room with a canopy will be built, barbecue areas will appear. Traditionally, major events are held in the park, including the Spasskaya Fair, which annually gathers up to 200 thousand people.

Next, the Rais of the Republic inspected the memorial House-museum of Ivan Ivanovich Shishkin, which opened after the restoration. In 2016, Rustam Minnikhanov instructed to carry out repair and restoration work, which took place in 2017-2021. The facades were overhauled, the attic was insulated, and the interior was renovated. There are 4 new sections of the exposition, the territory of the estate has been landscaped. The museum receives over 74 thousand visitors annually.

An important project for the city is a new beach on the embankment of the Kama River. This facility is included in the list expected to be implemented in 2025-2026 within the framework of state programs for the improvement of public spaces. The new city beach will consist of several zones: a sandy beach, a pier for boats, an area with playgrounds, a restaurant and a rental service.
