In Kazan, the area of green areas has increased fivefold in 15 years

148 park improvement projects worth 15.5 billion rubles have been implemented in Kazan over the past 15 years. The area of green areas in the city has increased 5 times during this time. Igor Kulyazhev, Deputy head of the Executive Committee, told about this on the regional day of the II All–Russian forum "Small Motherland is the strength of Russia."

In 2011, the city program "One Hundred Squares" was launched in the capital of Tatarstan, the republican program for the development of public spaces was launched in 2015, the federal project "Creating a comfortable Urban Environment" was launched in 2017, and the national project "Housing and Urban Environment" has been implemented since 2020.

At the session "Comfortable environment: are there limits to the implementation of the Federal project "Creating a comfortable urban environment", Kulyazhev presented a project for the improvement of the territory adjacent to the medical institution – Chaikov Lakes near the city clinical hospital No. 7 named after M. N. Sadykov in the Novo-Savinovsky district of the city. This district, he noted, is not the largest in Kazan in terms of area, but it is the most densely populated: 225 thousand people live in it. The green areas cover 132 hectares out of a total area of 2.1 thousand hectares.

During the landscaping of the natural area, large-scale work was carried out to clear the lake of silt, issues were resolved with the owners of adjacent plots to ensure the permeability of the territory, and a concept of event content was developed that would not disturb the peace of hospital patients. At the same time, the work was started later than usual, so as not to disturb the seagulls living on the lake during the nesting season. As a result, a park was created, which is visited by about 2 thousand people a day on weekdays and 4 thousand on weekends.

Olga Zakharova, Director of the Urban Economics Division of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI), noted that such projects would be very good to implement in medical institutions across the country. Dzhemal Surmanidze, head of the Department of regulatory and methodological work of the federal project "Creating a comfortable urban environment" in the project directorate of the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation, noted that the value of such projects, as implemented near the hospital in Kazan, is that "the land gets an owner" who provides a comfortable environment for citizens.
