Five table tennis centers were officially opened yesterday in the municipal districts of the Republic of Tatarstan. The opening of sports facilities in Agryzsky, Apastovsky, Bavlinsky, Yutazinsky and Sabinsky districts took place via videoconference.
The event was attended by Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Republic of Tatarstan, Igor Levitin, Adviser to the President of Russia, Marat Aizatullin, Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan, who were in the Sabinsky district (village of Shemordan), and Alexander Babakov, President of the Russian Table Tennis Federation (via videoconference).
It should be recalled that on June 7, 2024, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Government of Tatarstan and the Russian Table Tennis Federation signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of physical education and sports. As part of this document, new table tennis centers have been opened in five municipal districts.
Alexander Babakov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Table Tennis Federation, greeted all participants of the event via videoconference. "Joy fills my heart, because we are doing all this for the sake of the future," he said.
Alexander Babakov thanked Rustam Minnikhanov, as numerous sports facilities are being built in the region under his leadership. "Today, new centers have appeared in five districts that help to practice sports and look for young talents," said the president of the Russian Table Tennis Federation. – It's also an opportunity to play sports for everyone. It is pleasant that the opening takes place during the tournament, which is already traditional for Tatarstan, which takes place in Rich Sabahs. We must do everything to ensure that our traditions continue in all areas. It is important that the tournament began as a republican one, and today it is in the official Table Tennis Federation schedule. For the third year in a row, representatives from different countries have come to the tournament, which means that it has a great future."
Alexander Babakov also recalled that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the Table Tennis Federation.
Igor Levitin, Adviser to the President of Russia, noted that this was the first time in the country that the Russian Table Tennis Federation, together with Tatarstan, as one of the subjects of the federation, had implemented such a project and built five gyms in rural areas. He stressed that all residents can play sports in these halls. "Today, when there are not enough universal gyms, this is a good example for everyone," said Igor Levitin. - We have long dreamed that such small complexes would come to rural areas. We are constantly building in large cities, but sports should be accessible everywhere."
Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of Tatarstan, noted in his welcoming speech that cooperation with the Russian Table Tennis Federation had brought good results – five new centers had been built in a short period of time. "This is a very good design solution, and the sport of table tennis is accessible to everyone and in high demand. I want to thank you, Alexander Mikhailovich (Babakov) and you, Igor Evgenievich (Levitin) for your support and for the development of the sport. And, of course, all these gyms should work for our youth! It won't work around the clock, but they should be used as much as possible. Have a good trip!"
