720 students of grades 3-4 from Kazan became participants of the interactive educational quest "Our work is your comfort", dedicated to the basics of housing and communal services.

The project is organized by the Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan with the support of the Education Department of the Executive Committee of Kazan. The game format allowed students to gain practical knowledge and skills necessary for the consumption of resources supplied to homes by housing and communal enterprises, and when paying for these services.

To understand all the lines of the receipt, the children were offered to go through five stations: at each one they could learn about a separate service in an interactive form and complete a thematic task. So, at the Heating and Gas station, children not only find out where the hot water comes from in the batteries, but also look for ways to save this heat themselves: they discuss the heating season and small household tricks that help not to release precious heat outside.

At the Water Supply station, they are shown how long the water takes to purify before it gets into the glass. Here, the guys get an answer to the question of why tap water may taste different from the usual bottled water.

At the Power Supply station, children are shown an invisible force — electricity - using visual models and devices, explaining how it is born and gets into sockets, making all gadgets and light bulbs work.

At the Garbage Collection and Removal station, the children learn the basics of an eco-friendly lifestyle in practice. The main task is to properly sort the waste into containers and along the way find out what kind of second life they can get. After visiting all the locations, the participants reflected on the possible consequences of stopping the supply of vital resources such as water and electricity to apartment buildings, as well as ways to save them. In addition, each student was taught how to take meter readings and fill out a receipt for housing and communal services. After the training event, all participants received a memo with useful information about housing and communal services.

Marat Aizatullin, Minister of Construction, Architecture, Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Tatarstan, noted the importance of instilling understanding and respect for the difficult work of public utilities in children from an early age. "It is also important to talk about the personal responsibility of everyone and our common interest in caring for resources, both natural and energy," stressed the head of the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Tatarstan. "This course was created specifically for schoolchildren: in a lively and accessible form, it provides practical knowledge that will become a good foundation for their adult life."

The quest takes place in two stages: in spring and in winter. In the coming winter, another 780 students from grades 3-4 of Kazan schools will take part in the project.
