The Committee on social policy discussed the living conditions of persons with disabilities.

Today it took place the meeting of the Committee on social policy, on which the deputies have considered the question of the realization in the Republic of measures to ensure unimpeded access for the disabled and people with limited mobility to priority facilities and services. Also two draft laws. Deputy Minister of labour, employment and social protection Irina Prosvirjakova made a report on the main issue.  She informed the deputies that in Tatarstan there are currently 320 thousand people with disabilities and about 1 million people belonging to the group of the disabled. Almost a third of the total population of the Republic. Therefore, the program "Accessible environment" has a special meaning in a number of state programs of social support of citizens. She also told on 131 object (including 33 health organizations, 45 objects of social protection and employment, 22 cultural institutions, 18 objects of physical education and sports, 104 schools and 10 institutions of professional education) completed work on adaptation to this category of people. In some cities and regional centres adapted a large number of pedestrian crossings, the Ministry created an interactive map of the availability of adapted facilities of the Republic,  on the Agency's website it posted guidelines governing the creation of an accessible environment for disabled people and other people with limited mobility. Members of the Committee at the same time expressed the wish to expand the list of objects outreach program "Accessible environment", to improve the quality of construction and installation works by adaptation, and to move to a new level of work in this direction as the creation of accessible services. They also spoke about the need to create adaptive school for disabled people, proposed to strengthen the availability of transport, to consider the conditions of accessibility in the construction of specialized facilities for the disabled and elderly people. Then the deputies reviewed the drafts of two national laws: "On amendments to articles 14 and 16 of the law of RT "On physical culture and sport" and "On regulation of certain issues in the field of social services for citizens in the Republic of Tatarstan".
