In Tatarstan, nearly 300 elevators will be replaced as part of the apartment buildings overhaul program, claimed Ildus Nasyrov, the head of the department for program management, operation and implementation at Tatarstan Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing, during a press conference at Tatar-Inform.
According to the speaker, an average elevator life span is 25 years. "After expiring, the elevator must be replaced. It is being repaired for even 15-20 years, as it is considered the object of increased danger," he said.
Ildus Nasyrov reported that a total of 315 elevators were changed last year as part of the overhaul of the program. "We plan to replace 279 elevators. As many as 7,689 lifts were introduced before 2008. Every year, several mechanisms reach its 25th anniversary, as people get older too."
