Rustam Minnikhanov: Kazan needs the support of municipalities in constructing the stadium and urban land improving

Kazan needs the support of municipalities in constructing the stadium and urban land improving when preparing for the Summer Universiade. This was announced today by President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov at the weekly republican videoconference meeting with all municipalities of the Republic held at the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The meeting was chaired by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and attended by Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov.

 “I want to appeal to heads of our municipalities. We have only 112 day left before the Universiade. Kazan needs the support of the Republic and our municipalities in constructing the stadium and urban land improving”, said Minnikhanov.

 “The scope of work is great. Urban services are overloaded: even working around the clock, they cannot cope with half the tasks to be performed. We need to raise power”, added the President. He believes that every facility should have a person in charge. Tatarstan President stressed that the Universiade is not a purely Tatarstan project, it is a major federal project the success of which will positively impact on the international image of the country and the Republic.

Speaking about the construction of football stadium Kazan-Arena Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan Irek Faizullin said that 1192 people worked at the stadium. They are representatives of the municipalities. In general, more than three thousand people are involved in the construction of the football stadium.

The Head of the Ministry of Construction noted that since September 2012 the participation of the municipalities in the construction had been monitored        according to a points system. “The total production was 59 thousand 581 man-days and 1274 machine-shifts. The municipalities have completed a great amount of work”, he said and stated that Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny had implemented their programs and started additional work.

At the same time there are a number of the areas that are behind schedule. Ildar Khalikov noted several areas where the level of work is less than 20 percent (Bavlinsky, Baltasinsky, Drozhzhanovsky, Elabuhzsky, Kamsko-Ustyinsky, Muslyumovsky areas).

The President announced that a major event with the participation of the leadership of the country will be held on March 19th, 2013 in Kazan. “The stadium is the main facility. We see the work of everyone. Work should be carried out as agreed. Such stadiums will not be constructed in the coming decades. Each of us must take part in this”, said Minnikhanov.

He instructed to gather the heads of the municipalities the workers of which poorly performed the work at the stadium, and to step up the work on weekends and Mondays. “The stadium is constructed by the whole world. You will have a lot to remember”, said the President of Tatarstan promising that the best areas would be awarded.
