Problems of occupational safety in the construction sector discussed today during an extended meeting

Today the Ministry of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan together with the Executive Committee of Kazan held an extended meeting of the working group on occupational safety and health in the construction sector of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Republic of Tatarstan, the State Labor Inspectorate of the Republic of Tatarstan, the State Constructional Surveillance Inspectorate of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Administration of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Tatarstan, and heads of construction companies. The participants discussed the issues of occupational safety and health at construction sites and in construction materials industries. The meeting was held by Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan A.S.Akhmetshin.

Deputy Minister spoke about occupational injuries in the construction sector and construction enterprises. He noted that the Republic of Tatarstan is a leader of the construction sector in the Volga Federal District. Meanwhile, the construction is one of the most dangerous economic activities in terms of injuries.

The speakers talked about the prevention, revelation and termination of violations of norms and rules of occupational safety and health in the construction process, analyzed the reasons for the growth of industrial accidents in the construction sector and discussed the activities being carried out to monitor the compliance with the requirements of occupational safety and health.

Finally, Deputy Minister A.S.Akhmetshin noted that the work on occupational safety should be systematic and all the issues in this field required a joint decision. To do this the Executive Committee of Kazan, heads of enterprises, regulatory authorities and self-regulatory organizations received the task to solve the problems of occupational safety and health in the construction sector.
