Kazan welcomes heads of delegations of the Universiade 2013

Once again Kazan is preparing to welcome guests. From April 3d to April 7th, 2013 the capital of the 27th World Summer Universiade will bring together heads of delegations of more than 120 countries participating in the Games and presented by sports ministers or heads of national university sports federations. The guests will come from the USA, Canada, China, Latin America, Africa, Asia, the European Union and CIS.

The meeting of heads of delegations in the capital of the next Universiade has been a long-standing tradition of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) arranged to get acquainted sports officials from around the world with the conditions for athletes set by the organizers of the World Student Games. The organizers of the Games will present the full range of services; will acquaint the visitors with the infrastructure, security, accommodation and food and transportation facilities, and etc. In fact, this meeting is a crucial one in the formation of official applications for the participation in the Games by National University Sports Federations; so the importance of a successful presentation of Kazan as a capital of the 27th World Summer Universiade 2013 should be recognized.

The program of the visit in Kazan is varied. During a five-day visit the guests will inspect the Universiade 2013 Venues, visit the Athletes’ Village as well as learn about the services rendered to members of national sports teams during the Games. Within the framework of this event Kazan will be attended by the FISU executives headed by its President Claude Louis Gallien.

The attention will be focused on the organization of a visa-free entry to Russia for athletes participating in the Universiade. It is to be recalled that for the first time such service is introduced for the Universiade. It was approved by an appropriate Decree of the President of the Russian Federation. During his recent visit to Kazan President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin offered to introduce this practice for all major international sports events to be held in Russia in the coming years.

One of the most anticipated events during the visit of the heads of delegations to Kazan will be the drawing procedure for team sports represented at the Universiade, which will take place on April 6th, 2013. Finally, it will be reported which teams will play with each other in the most spectacular sports such as football, volleyball, basketball, water polo, etc. It is to be recalled that the Russian team (as a host country of the Games) will be compete in group A at No. 1.

It is to be recalled that the 27th World Summer Universiade in Kazan will be held from July 6th to July 17th, 2013. The competitions in 27 sports will be attended by 13.5 thousand athletes who will compete for 351 sets of medals. As of today, 132 countries have already submitted applications for participation in the Universiade 2013 in Kazan.
