Today, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met with President of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) Claude Louis Gallien. The meeting was held within the framework of the meeting of Heads of Delegations of the countries participating in the Universiade 2013. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Sports of Russia Natalya Parshikova, Head of the Russian Student Sports Union Oleg Matytsin, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and Head of Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Vladimir Leonov.
Addressing the FISU President Rustam Minnikhanov thanked the organization for their confidence in Tatarstan. “Every day we learn something new, and work hard. We are supporting by the Russian government, a lot of attention to the Universiade is paid personally by President of Russia Vladimir Putin,” said Rustam Minnikhanov.
“92 days are left prior to the Universiade, we have to solve some problems, and there is no doubt that we will solve them”, said the President of Tatarstan. “We have to prove to the world that Russia is capable of holding such large events and contributing to the promotion of university sports”, added the President
President of FISU Claude Louis Gallien expressed confidence that the Universiade in Kazan will be held at the highest level. “It's almost done: we can discuss certain issues, but we know that it will be the best Universiade in the history, it will be the exclusive Universiade”, said the Head of FISU. “Russia and Tatarstan will enter the history of university sport", concluded Claude Louis Gallien.
Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Natalya Parshikova noted that the preparation and holding of the Universiade gave Russia a well-established model of properly organized sports activities. Thus, namely the Universiade made it possible to arrange a visa free entry both for the participants of the Games and participants of future major international sporting events to be held in Russia.
