Concept of “Smart City Kazan” master plan presented to the President of Tatarstan

The concept of the master plan of project “Smart City Kazan” and issues of further implementation of the project were discussed today at a meeting held in the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and representatives of the Malaysian consortium represented by AJM Planning & Urban Design Group, Straits Consulting Engineers, and Amanah Capital Group Limited (ACGL).

The presentation of the master plan of project “Smart City Kazan” was made by chief architect of the “Smart City Kazan” Norliza Khashim.

It is to be recalled that project “Smart City Kazan” is the creation of a new urban space for the development of business, educational, scientific and research activities in order to promote and develop the promising sectors of the economy of Tatarstan. On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan the project is supervised by Tatarstan Investment Development Agency, the operator is a specially created state agency “Development Corporation of the Republic of Tatarstan”.

The project was developed by a Malaysian consortium together with SUE “Tatinvestgrazhdanproyekt”.

The territory of “Smart City Kazan” located in Laishevsky area with a total area of ​​650 hectares, is divided into four main zones based on the functional purpose: International Cultural and Business Center (220 hectares), Centre for Education and Science (209 ha), Special Economic Zone (102 ha) and Park area (100 ha). The special economic zone in the area of ​​102 hectares is part of SEZ “Innopolis” (the first site is located in Verkhneuslonsky area).

During the presentation Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Lenar Yakupov said that the concept of the master plan of project “Smart City Kazan” had been completed, and the original plan of potential investors had been developed. Currently, they are negotiating with them. Lenar Yakupov reminded that within the framework of the annual AIM Investment Forum 2013 the campaign to attract investors for project “Smart City Kazan” would be officially started in Dubai.

Director General of “Development Corporation of the Republic of Tatarstan” Bulat Gayanov presented to the President of Tatarstan the costing of the project engineering and road infrastructure.

Rustam Minnikhanov, summing up the results of the presentation of the master plan of project “Smart City Kazan”, said that this project was very promising. We put great hopes on the project, he said, and confirm our commitment to the further implementation of the project
