9 May 2013, Thursday

Today, three new stations of the Kazan underground such as “Aviastroitelnaya”, “Severny Vokzal” and “Yashlek” were opened in Kazan.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan A.S.Akhmetshin, Mayor of Kazan I.R.Metshin, heads of “Kazmetrostroi” and all sub-contractors, the management of the Directorate for the construction of underground transportation facilities, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, representatives of mass media and others.

Today, on the 68th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the metro builders presented a really worth gift for our veterans. They became the first passengers of the three new stations of the second start-up facility of the first line of the Kazan underground. From Aviastroitelnaya Station they went by train “Rusich” to the center of the city, where they took part in the traditional Victory parade.

New stations will have a high degree of availability. All station complexes for the disabled and people with reduced mobility will be provided with a system of ramps and lift-and-carry transfer mechanisms. One also cannot ignore the high level of security. The Kazan underground has been recognized as the safest one in Russia. It has the only one in Russia joint dispatching center, which includes a train dispatcher, a dispatcher of electromechanical devices and a dispatcher of power supply. It is planned to create a control center “OKSION” together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Ministry of Interior. System “Dvizheniye” with the function of automatic train operation will be implemented. The trains will be driven without a driver. He will be responsible only for the automation performance control.

A significant role in equipping the Kazan underground is played by systems of intellectual engineering. Traffic safety is provided by means of video surveillance system, alarm system and access control system, fire system, as well as special equipment for detecting explosives and narcotic substances.

With the commissioning of the three new stations the traffic will increase two times and the use of land transport will be significantly reduced.

It is worth saying the words of gratitude for the work of company “Kazmetrostroi” and all sub-contractors, the Directorate for the construction of underground transportation facilities, the Executive Committee of Kazan, the management of the Administration for Construction Sector Development of the Ministry of Construction of the Republic of Tatarstan. The work of these people gave the residents of the city the opportunity to get a comfortable, beautiful and fast underground.
