An extended meeting of the working group on occupational health and safety in the construction sector held today

An extended meeting of the working group on occupational health and safety in the construction sector took place today in the assembly hall of SUE “Tatinvestgrazhdanproyekt”. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan A.S.Akhmetshin. The meeting was also attended by Head of SPI “Main Investment and Construction Administration of the Republic of Tatarstan” R.F.Nurullin, First Deputy Head of the State Constructional Surveillance Inspectorate of the Republic of Tatarstan I.N.Plyusnin, as well as heads and employees of construction companies.

Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan A.S.Akhmetshin made a report where he cited statistics on accidents in the construction sector of the Republic. Summing up his speech, the Deputy Minister identified the following objectives: the enforcement authorities and SRO were instructed  to strengthen the control and supervision of compliance with the occupational safety rules and regulations; during the inspections special attention is to be paid to the presence in construction companies the permits for requested types of construction work issued by the self-regulatory organization; they are to take control of contractors systematically violating the labor legislation. A.S.Akhmetshin instructed the Main Investment and Construction Administration of the Republic of Tatarstan  and heads of general contractors to enter into contracts with contractors and sub-contractors to carry out works only if the organization has a work permit  issued by the self-regulatory organization, to carry out continuous monitoring of compliance by contractors rules and regulations of occupational health and safety. The heads of construction companies were instructed to provide the staff numbers of occupational health services in accordance with the labor legislation (or conclude contracts), to provide funding for the activities to improve occupational safety of 0.2% of the total production costs, establish daily monitoring of the technical condition of vehicles and equipment and ensure the certification of workplaces on working conditions.
