Leadership o Tatarstan is very interested in the construction of a high-speed railway between Moscow and Kazan, and is ready to support “Russian Railways” JSC to implement the project. This was announced today by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov during a meeting with First Vice-President of “Russian Railways” JSC Aleksandr Misharin. The meeting was held in the Government House of the Republic of Tatarstan and attended by Prime Minister of Tatarstan Ildar Khalikov and Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic Irek Faizullin. Opening the meeting Rustam Minnikhanov noted the importance of the development of high-speed railway service. According to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, the construction of high-speed railways will promote economic development across the country, improve population mobility and relieve motorways.
Rustam Minnikhanov thanked “Russian Railways” JSC for the adoption of a critical decision on the construction of high-speed ways. “We want to help you in solving the problem”, President of the Republic of Tatarstan addressing Aleksandr Misharin. In his turn, the First Vice-President of the Russian Railways said that the program provided for the construction of 4,200 km high-speed ways and reconstruction of 6,900 km of existing railways in order to increase the speed up to 160 km/h. The program provides for the separation of freight and passenger lines.
