Today, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Igor Shuvalov visited a number of facilities built for the World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan. He was accompanied by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. At the railway station, where the First Deputy Prime Minister arrived by express train “Lastochka” from the airport, Igor Shuvalov visited the main building and asked when the underground parking would be opened . According to the leaders of the developer, the parking is to be opened on June 25th, 2013.
At metro station “Kozya Sloboda” Igor Shuvalov was shown passenger screening systems and information boards. After that, Igor Shuvalov went by train to the end metro station “Avaistroitelnaya” built in preparation for the Universiade. At stadium “Kazan Arena” First Deputy Prime Minister bought a ticket to be used at the Opening and Closing ceremonies. Igor Shuvalov asked how the people would get to the stadium. As reported by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin the spectators would be taken by a special shuttle bus and in the future, visitors would be able to use a big parking for their private vehicles near the stadium.
At the stadium Igor Shuvalov visited the International Broadcast Centre for the Games, the catering area and spectator stands. First Deputy Prime Minister asked to actively use the stadium after the Universiade as the object of its heritage. “The stadium has to live, something should always happen hereat”, said Igor Shuvalov. He also visited the Rowing Centre and a new house built under the program of the development of the rental housing market. During the Universiade this house will host volunteers. According to Head of the State Housing Fund of the Republic of Tatarstan Talgat Abdullin, the cost of the construction of the house was 25,000 rubles per square meter, and the cost of renting an apartment will be set below market prices. In the Republican Clinical Hospital, which will serve the Universiade, Igor Shuvalov was shown a new reception facility with a resuscitation department.
Construction of new facilities and provision of hospitals with modern equipment was conducted in the framework of the federal program for the modernization of the health care. In the Athletes’ Village the First Deputy Prime Minister went to the house number 5 which will welcome the national Russian team. Member of the team Aleksandr Furasov with whom Igor Shuvalov met two years ago at the last Universiade in Shenzhen shared his opinion about the conditions of life in the Kazan Athletes’ Village in comparison with China. According to him, the rooms have more light and comfortable beds. “I like it - simple and functional”, said Igor Shuvalov.
