The restoration of the Advent Temple being on the agenda

Today, Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan Irek Faizullin held an off-site meeting in the Advent Temple located in Lukovsky Street. The meeting  was attended by Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan V.N.Kudryashev, representatives of State Unitary Enterprise “Tatinvestgrazhdanproyekt”,  State Public Institution “Main Investment and Construction Administration of the Republic of Tatarstan” and others. The participants examined the present state of the object and discussed its reconstruction and restoration.

The Advent Temple, located at 21 Lukovsky Street, Kazan is a cultural heritage site of national importance in accordance with the Order of the Council of Ministers of TASSR no.601 of 23/10/1981.

The temple was built in the years of 1731-1735 at the expense of owner of the cloth manufactory Ye.I.Dryablova-Mikhlyaeva. In 1802 craftsman M.A.Venediktov constructed a brick around the temple. In 1895, a five-domed chapel in pseudo-Russian style was built on the south-eastern side of the fence. In the 1930s, the building housed theater “Kolkhoznik” and a school of western and ballroom dancing. Since 1950s there was the Kazan puppet theater. In 2012 the building was transferred to the Kazan diocese.
