24 July 2013, Wednesday

Construction sites in the historical center of Kazan were visited by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. He was accompanied by Prosecutor of the Republic Kafil Amirov, Assistant to the President of Tatarstan Olesya Baltusova, First Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of Tatarstan Farid Khanifov and Head of the Executive Committee of Kazan Aleksei Pesoshin. In Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Street Rustam Minnikhanov was presented a draft project for a 6-storey residential building to be constructed therein.  Tatarstan President agreed with the arguments of Chief Architect of Kazan Tatyana Prokofyeva that the new building would fit into the existing image of the housing development of this part of the city. At the same time Rustam Minnikhanov also suggested the developer restoring a wooden house in 10 Kosmodemyanskaya Street, located directly opposite the future building. According to the President of the Republic, although the house is not an architectural monument the beauty of the carved decoration is unique and it needs to be restored. When at the construction site of the apartment house being erected by company “Svei” in Kosmodemyanskaya Street, Tatarstan President noted the large size of the building which construction has been going on for years. The architects proposed a new version of the façade which would visually “lighten” the massive building. The President of the Republic of Tatarstan, in his turn, instructed the developer to landscape the area adjacent to the house. When next to the construction site of the large building Rustam Minnikhanov visited the place where there is the house of Varvara Druzhinina, being one of the most significant samples of wooden architecture of Kazan. According to Assistant of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Olesya Baltusova, currently the house has been reassembled and is being restored, so it will soon be returned to its original location and equipped with a new concrete foundation with basement premises. Being at the construction site of the house in 14 Mushtari Street the President was presented some options for the external design of the new building. It is assumed that instead of the demolished wooden houses similar one-storey buildings will be erected and a 4-storey office building will be located in the middle of the residential quarter. When on the shore of Lake Nizhny Kaban, Tatarstan President visited entertainment complex “Bannaya Usadba” under construction. Rustam Minnikhanov noted the shapeless architectural design of the buildings facing the lake, and asked the company-developer to refine the look of the waterfront, as well as to landscape it, providing an opportunity for citizens to walk around. The final point of the visit was an old building the Emergency Care Hospital located in Sibirsky Trakt Street. After the opening of the new Center for Emergency Medicine based on city hospital no.7, the old building is vacant, and Minister of Health of Tatarstan Airat Farrakhov offered to move the oncology hospital from Baturin Street, as well as the gynecological oncology hospital from Yapeyev Street and the polyclinic from Nagornaya Street. All of these facilities are located in old buildings in the city center and need to be relocated. At the same time the building of the Emergency Care Hospital also needs to be repaired. Rustam Minnikhanov instructed the designers together with the Ministry of Health to determine the cost of the project of the proposed relocation.
