Major repairs of schools in Kazan completed by 60%

30 July 2013, Tuesday

Major repairs in all 19 schools of Kazan included in the program on major repairs for this year, should be completed by August 15th, 2013. All 12,000 children have to meet the Knowledge Day in renovated class rooms. The task was set by Head of the Kazan Executive Committee Aleksei Pesoshin, who had inspected the progress of the program implementation.

Aleksei Pesoshin visited schools number 3 and number 96. He was accompanied by Head of the Housing and Utilities Committee Iskander Giniyatullin, representatives of contractors and directors of educational institutions.

As reported by Iskander Giniyatullin, today the amount of the program implementation in the city is about 60%. School number 3 in 16/7 Gorky Street, as noted, falls behind. Only 34% of the planned amount of work was completed hereat. This may be due to the fact that the repair of the building is to be carried with a special responsibility because it is a historical monument of the national importance.

The house named after D.I.Mozolevsky-I.P.Umov-Ye.V.Vagner-N.F.Gribovsky was built in 1856. The history of the building has been continuously connected with the education: up to 1870 it housed a private progymnasium named after Ye.Vagner, then the third man's gymnasium. In 1895-1904 the house was rented by Kazan Art School, where N.Feshin and D. Burlyuk studied. After the Revolution, the mansion housed gymnasium № 3.

Currently, the outside restoration of the cultural heritage object is almost completed. Contractor “Restavratsiya” LLC both painted the building around the perimeter and restored the historic decorative stone mural making the contours and relief of the building.

Aleksei Pesoshin noted that the facade of the building and its roof had acquired a decent look. “We can say that we are killing two birds with one stone i.e. we put things in order at the school and at the same time we restore the architectural monument”, said the Head of the Executive Committee.

Now the heating system is being replaced in the building. "This is one of the key points, so next week we'll come here and check out how things are going on”, addressed Aleksei Pesoshin to contractors. The contractors undertook to meet the schedule.

“The completion date of major repairs of schools in Kazan is hard, but it will remain the same. By August 15th, 2013 all work must be completed and no changes will be made”, said Aleksei Pesoshin.

In school number 96 located in 51 Dostoyevsky Street, the facade and roof have also been replaced, new doors have been installed and the entrance group is being repaired. In particular, the school will be equipped with a ramp for the disabled.

“We are studying children who have health restrictions”, said Director Sergei Buzyukin. “For example, there are 4 children who use a wheelchair and study at home, but they can attend classes and extracurricular activities if they want to”, he added.

The Director told Aleksei Pesoshin that the installation of water and sewage systems had been completed, and heating and electricity supply systems and toilets were being repaired. “We had hot and cold water systems installed in all primary classes. We have not had such conveniences before”, said Sergei Buzyukin.

The workers replaced the window frames that had served more than 50 years and had been in poor condition. Also, the school will finally get a proper dining room meeting all the requirements of the Russian Federal Consumer Rights Protection and Human Health Control Service. To do this, it will be moved from the basement of the main building onto the first floor of the second building connected with an indoor passage.

Sponsors help to carry out additional work. For example, plant “Elektropribor” allocated the funds to repair the lobbies.

As noted by Aleksei Pesoshin, school number 96 has good traditions; particularly it was included in the top twenty in the city in terms of the results of the Unified State Exam. Its three graduates scored the maximum 100 points.

“We must create all conditions for children to study including professionalism of teachers and material resources”, said the Head of the Executive Committee.
