Irek Faizullin attends the opening ceremony of a new school in Kazan

Today, secondary School No. 35 in Kazan first opened its doors to pupils. The celebratory assembly to mark the start of the school year was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov. Also the opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan I.E.Faizullin, Acting Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan Engel Fattakhov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Ak Bars Bank” Valery Sorokin.

New School No. 35 was built in micro district Solnechniy Gorod with the support of developer “Ak Bars Development”. The school is designed for 1,000 pupils, and today it welcomes 600 children who will study in one shift this year. The specialization of the school will be aerospace technology, so relevant technical circles and sections will be arranged for children.

 

Speaking at the celebratory assembly, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said that 8 new schools had been opened for the new school year, as well as 4 new kindergartens, and 167 schools had been repaired. “Today the Republic is fully ready for the new school year, and we are very pleased to be here to open this beautiful school”, said Rustam Minnikhanov.

He thanked the group of “Ak Bars Bank” which builds micro district Solnechniy Gorod and was involved in the construction of the school.

Rustam Minnikhanov presented to the school principal a certificate for the purchase of sports equipment, and the climax of the ceremony was the first call by dozens of bells in the hands of students. After that, the guests of honor inspected the new school.

Rustam Minnikhanov went to different classrooms and talked with the pupils. In the library the President of Tatarstan watched a variety of physical and chemical experiments, and equipment for technical circles. “It is important for children to develop technical skills”, said Rustam Minnikhanov.

He also visited a sports hall of the new school, and on the ground near the school building the President watched flights of radio-controlled airplanes made by children from the aeromodelling circle.

When talking to reporters, Rustam Minnikhanov admitted that he had impressed by what he had seen at school number 35. “Here the most modern technologies of teaching are used, serious technical circles are arranged, and there is a sports component. We need to teach the children to think, and new teaching technologies allow it”, said the President of Tatarstan.

According to Rustam Minnikhanov, a modern school should be not only comfortable, but also innovative. “We must educate our children in accordance with the latest international requirements. Schools should teach IT- subjects, mathematics, physics and chemistry. And what we see here is what we dream of”, said the President of Tatarstan.
